Stitching is my second language. I tell my story through the medium of quilted textiles. The contrast—a strong line against a giving surface—captures what I know and must say. I’m interested in how we communicate with each other—leaders to followers, poets to people, the loud and the silent. From electronic signals to sidelong glances, they all intrigue me. I look for the uncanny in life. It’s as if there is a secret code I want to decipher. A book, a headline, my garden, a muttered oath all bring inspiration to the cloth.
