beware that false sense of security that drugs give you

This week has been a challenge. I was scheduled for laser gum surgery on Tuesday. I worked double time to be sure I had enough time for recuperation and healing after the surgery. On Tuesday, I prepped for the surgery by taking the prescribed mellowing agents. Trouble was, when Jim dropped me off for said torture the office said, NO NO NO!! It's NEXT Tuesday. Lucky for me those mellowing agents did not allow for the grand embarassment I was due. I don't even remember being there. Sure hope I wasn't drooling. I do notice a couple of new bruises on my body where I was bouncing off the walls.

Jim took me back home, tucked me in and let me sleep it off. I awoke to a new sense of entitlement, still walking a little like an Egyptian. Since I had the day off anyway I thought maybe I could get some work done on the spiral quilt. So creative, so happy, so sure of myself.

Today, I had to take out Mr. Tweezerman.

heart study

@2012, Paula KovarikLast night's work on the heart quilt yielded this result. I am reallly liking the extra dimension the fill stitching adds.

Working on a piece that seems to defy any attempt at completion. I have removed stitching 3 times over. Now what is more interesting to me is the fact that those old stitches have left trails to follow, aging the fabric, wounding it. Might have to do more of that to make the message clear here.

Looking for love stage 2

Isn't it funny that even though there were a couple of saints named Valentine, neither of them have been positively linked to romance?

Here is my second attempt to craft the image that keeps recurring in my head...a maze-like search for love in all it's forms. I may add a border to it.

Strangers Among Us

This one may be relegated to the lap blanket pile. It has been up on my wall for over a month now and I can't seem to figure out if it is done or not. Maybe if I pack it away and take it out again next year it will all make sense. The title, Strangers Among Us, is inspired by an article I read about microscopic colonies of organisms that live within our bodies.
